William John Acton- London 1890’s

$90,000.00

This William Acton is an absurdly good orchestra bass!  The bass will check all the boxes, very powerful refined English sound, blends well but easy to hear, huge sonic bottom, easy to play in all ranges and set up extremely well.  This bass would be a huge asset to any major orchestra.

The wood choice is absolutely beautiful, nicely flamed sycamore and highly arched spruce top, both top and back have double perfling.  The top bouts have been cut down many years ago to make the bass extremely playable. The instrument has its original scroll and Baker Style tuners. The bass is in excellent condition and has been well cared for.
