Superior French mid 19th century bass that has been attributed to Charles Maucotel. We restored another bass by Maucotel a few years back and this bass is amazingly similar. This instrument is made with the highest of skill, beautiful details and patina. The bass begs to be played in a great orchestra. Very expansive almost Italian sound. Very fun to play and easy to hear in a full bass section.
The bass has had a recent high quality restoration. Well flamed flat back with violin corners. Would be an excellent audition bass!
