Brothers Gagliano, Giuseppe(Joseph) & Antonio- Naples, Italy circa 1780

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to own a Gagliano family bass violin!  This is the dream bass in every way.  It’s absolutely beautiful to look at, has an absolutely spectacular 18th century Italian deep rich tone with plenty of power for a principle to lead a section.  I would consider this a large 3/4 size which makes it a pleasure to use for any occasion and the neck set and geometry is optimized.

The two piece back, matching ribs and scroll is of Italian poplar.  The two piece spruce top w/bottom bout wings is mostly slab cut with lovely figure.  The varnish is mostly original and is a reddish brown over amber ground.  The bass is in excellent condition.  We just completed some regular maintenance and varnish touchups.  If you’re looking for the best available bass anywhere, you found it!
