Sebastian Schelle- Nürnberg, Germany Circa mid 18th c

$38,500.00

Absolutely superb orchestra bass labeled Sebastian Schelle 1737, Nürnberg, Germany.  I don’t have another bass of this maker to compare this to, but this is an extremely old bass from the 18th century.  The sound and playability of this bass equals and surpasses instruments three times its price.  The instrument was last owned by Andy Wolf who was partnered with Dave Horine in the Bass Viol shop here in Cincinnati and an over 30 year member of the CSO.  You know this bass has to be really a heavy hitter!

The bass was recently completely restored in our shop and is in excellent condition.  All geometry and set up issues have been attended to.  This is the best bass in the shop for the money.
