Moses Tewksbury (3/4), Custom-Crafted
$30,000.00
Fifteen years ago the CBC trio of luthiers combined their talents to create this very popular model. Originally called the Harding model, John Harding having worked with Moses Tewksbury with very similar modeling features, is now Tewksbury 3/4. We combined the best traits of both basses and now have the Moses Tewksbury model 3/4 and 7/8.
Over 40 basses later, this model has proven to be a regular audition winner and prized orchestra bass worldwide. This 3/4 model works perfectly for bassists of any size and is extremely German bow friendly. The instrument has a big robust sound as well as a singing solo range. No need to contort your arm position to play on the E string if you’re a German bow player. This bass is designed by bass players so the geometry really works. The gamba shape keeps the corners out of the way and the arched neck block makes easy access to the break and upper notes.
We have a fantastic wood source and are able to use spectacular Big Leaf Maple while keeping the price very reasonable. This model can be altered to any string length between 40 1/2” to 42” string lengths. We can also use maple with less flame and other species to help with pricing, they still sound and play the same. We also take $1,000 off the price of our extensions if it’s installed at purchase.
We don’t require a deposit unless it’s a special order. We feel it’s extremely bad practice to bully players into buying a bass without ever playing it. We encourage the buyer to compare the bass to other makers of any price range. We have every confidence that our instruments are among the best!
